Meet Taylor

Lifelong resident. Progressive. Community-driven. Working Mom.

I was born and raised on Bonnycastle Avenue in the Highlands. My parents taught me by example that you can’t complain about something unless you are willing to help fix it. It was through both of their involvement with local and state Democratic politics that I came to understand what it meant to be an engaged citizen and they are part of what inspired me to run for office.

I attended Bloom Elementary School and Highland Middle School in the Highlands before going to duPont Manual High School and Centre College. I completed graduate degrees at both the College of Charleston (M.A. in English Literature) and the University of Louisville (M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration). My career has been dedicated to helping non-traditional and marginalized students get access to education, at Jefferson Community and Technical College, the University of Louisville and now the Kentucky Science Center.

In school, my parents always emphasized the importance of participating in extracurriculars as a way of helping my community, so I have continued that philosophy by participating in many community ‘extracurriculars’ outside of work including: serving on the board of both the UofL Early Learning Center Family Organization and the Bloom Elementary Parent Teacher Association, volunteering for the Friends of Beechwood Park (a small pocket park in the Highlands), founding the Parenting Network at UofL, volunteering in eviction court during COVID, organizing around police accountability and transparency with The 490 Project, participating in the Emerge KY 2023 class and serving on the board of the Tyler Park Neighborhood Association.

I live in the Tyler Park neighborhood with my husband, Brian, who works for the Coalition for the Homeless, and my two stellar kiddos: Atalaya (7) and Jude (6). In my free time, I like to play with my kids in one of District 8’s many parks or patronize one of District 8’s amazing local businesses.
