Everyone deserves to feel safe.
I believe that every resident deserves to feel safe and secure in their homes and neighborhoods. I will advocate for resources to be invested in improving infrastructure and public spaces to make them safer and more accessible.
Some specific ideas I would like to explore as your council member are:
Incentivizing bar owners with reduced ABC licensing fees if they abide by the ABC's Late Night Safety Plan
Working with the Louisville Youth Metro Council representative for District 8 to implement their gun violence reduction plan
Creating spaces for neighbors, business owners, Office of Safe and Healthy Neighborhood representatives, law enforcaement and government officials to build community and devise solutions to the Highlands' safety issues
I want to reinvest in and reimagine public safety. For Louisville to be safe for everyone, we must prioritize investing our city's budget in:
Education
Affordable housing
Accessible mental health services and healthcare
Treatment for addiction
Governmental transparency and policy that protects marginalized communities from harmful carceral practices
I will work every day to create this vision of our district and our city.
